Wilp D’mootxw – Nec’a Yikh: A House of Healing
Wilp D’mootxw – Nec’a Yikh is translated into “The Healing House” in both Gitxsan (Sim Algyax) and the Wet’suwet’en language. Rooted in Amma Haldalxw (Good Medicine) the strength of cedar is at the foundation and supports the circle, which is representative of community, nation, and cultural practices. The human inside the house represents the healing and balance of mind, body, and spirit using cultural healing and contemporary western medicine practices.
The Healing House is a place where traditional medicines are honored alongside modern medical and mental health supports. This includes doctors, counselors, nurses, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers ensuring that care is culturally safe, holistic, and accessible.
Wilp D’mootxw – Nec’a Yikh is a place where the aluugiget (Indigenous people) will receive culturally safe and holistic medicine – where ancient knowledge and modern medicine walk together in balance for the wellbeing of present and future generations.
